The Full Story
Iceni metal detecting services are a specialist contractor working with and for Archaeology companies on a commercial basis for development led projects throughout the UK.

Based in Norfolk, Steve Clarkson, the founder of Iceni MDS qualified as the only professional metal detectorist accredited by the Chartered institute for Archaeology at practitioner level (PCifA) some 5 years ago and is highly experienced in all aspects of trial trench, mitigation and survey work.

Background:
With 25 years of detecting experience, the last 5 of which have been spent in commercial Archaeology, I started my career as a volunteer detecting during the community excavation work for the Aylsham Roman Project here in Norfolk. As a result, Britannia Archaeology who were managing the project saw an opportunity of using my services to expand their portfolio of services to clients existing and new.

After gaining experience within the sector combined with training on hand excavation and recording I was then accepted into the Chartered institute as a Metal detectorist. I now continue to contract my services to MoLA, Headland, Wardell Armstrong, AOC, HCUK and of course Britannia Archaeology to name a few.

State of the art metal detectors are used with blue tooth headphones allowing hard hats to be worn, full ppe, finds bags provided and a comprehensive knowledge of finds enabling on site dating of metal objects and coins.
